Albin Ballad |
Brief details |
Builder |
Albin Marine, Sweden |
The Albin Ballad
is a fast, seaworthy cruiser-racer from the 1970s, a time when competitive
racing boats actually made effective cruisers. The Ballad was designed
by Rolf Magnusson, as a production version of his earlier very successful
'Joker' racing design. About 1,500 Ballads were built, and many
have made long offshore passages, including at least one circumnavigation.

The Ballad hull is solid GRP, with lead ballast encapsulated
into the keel. The deck is a GRP sandwich moulding, with
a smooth inner skin forming the headlining. The mast is
keel-stepped.
Ballads are both fast for their size and seaworthy, and
have a reputation for good, predictable handling. "Yachting
Monthly" described her as ".... the hull is
slim, well balanced and easily driven"
