Brief details |
Builder |
Barbican Yacht Construction, Plymouth |
The Barbican 35 is a classic moderately heavy displacement GRP long-keeler. They are very comfortable traditional cruising yachts with the potential for serious passage-making. Barbican Yachts offered semi-custom interiors, although some hulls were fitted out by other companies, including the example shown here. |

Designed by Holman & Pye, the Barbican 35 was built from 1987 to the 1986, and is based on Kim Holman's earlier Super Sovereign ketch, with an all-glass hull and deck, a taller sloop rig and a reworked interior. It is believed that the yacht illustrated was hull no 7, and was the last built before the moulds were lost in a fire in 1986.
'Yachting Monthly' reviewed the Barbican 35 design, saying "....She offers up to six berths, a good-sized heads forward, a practical galley with good headroom under the low doghouse and a good chart table. The saloon is narrow but not cramped. Performance is steady and she handles well". |
