The Bavaria 40 Ocean is the centre-cockpit
version of the Bavaria 40 design produced from 2000 onwards.
The design is from J & J Designs, and the hull is of solid
GRP laminate below the waterline, with Divinicell closed-cell
foam sandwich above the waterline and in the deck moulding.
Kevlar is used in the laminate in the bow are, to strengthen
against collision damage.
She is fitted out in what was for many years Bavaria's house
style, with lots of dark mahogany veneers with solid wood
trim in the interior furnishings. She has a massive double
aft cabin with 'island' berth, and a smaller but still spacious
forecabin. Bavaria chose to fit one large heads with separate
shower rather than two smaller heads compartments.
These yachts had options of two keel depths, in-mast furling
or fully battened mainsails, and laid teak or plain GRP decks.
A fixed windscreen is fitted to the forward part of the cockpit.
