Bènèteau Evasion
28 |
Brief Notes |
Builder |
Bènèteau, France |
The Evasion
28 is the smallest of a range of motorsailers manufactured
in the 1980s by Bènèteau. With a traditional sailing yacht
hull, and good sail area, they offer a very useful compromise
between sailing ability and comfort. Although fitted with a
powerful diesel, the Evasion 28 is also a capable sailing
yacht. |

The Bènèteau Evasion 28 represents an unusual
type of yacht, a small motor-sailer that is also a genuine
sailing yacht. Unlike the more familiar Colvic Watson motor-sailers,
which are based on motor fishing boat lines, and are very
slow under sail, the Evasion is quite capable of being used
as a pure sailing yacht, with performance comparable to most
other long-keel cruisers of similar lengths. In unpleasant
weather, however, the owner of an Evasion can retreat to the
interior steering position in the pilothouse, and either sail
or motor in comfort. |
