Furia 44s were built in the late 80's to early 1990s. They were designed by Michael Joubert, and the builders were Furia S.A., of Barcelona. Furias were built with a choice of two interior layouts and two keel options. The one shown here has the more luxurious (but fewer berths ) "owners" version, and the shallow 5' 3" draught wing keel instead of the 7 foot draught conventional fin.

The hull is a hand-laid GRP/kevlar laminate, with isopthalic gel-coat, which was epoxied from new. The decks are GRP sandwich, with laid teak in the cockpit and on the forward coachroof. A watertight crash bulkhead is also fitted at the bow. Although Furias are little known in England, their build quality is excellent. The deck layout is very much set up for serious offshore cruising, with stainless steel crashbars at the base of the mast and either side of the main hatch.
