Sigma 292

Brief details

Builder

Sigma Yachts and Marine Projects (Plymouth) Ltd.

A less common model than the ubiquitous Sigma 33s, the 292 is a medium sized fast cruiser with club racing potential. Whilst originally marketed as a yacht with six berths, two of these are small. The 292s were discontinued after a while as they proved almost as expensive to build as the larger models

Sigma 292

The Sigma 292 was designed by David Thomas as a smaller sister to the very popular Sigma 33 cruiser-racer and Sigma 33OOD one-design racers. About 30 Sigma 292s were built in total. She is a modern styled fast cruiser, with a very nicely fitted out and cleverly designed interior. Although a fully fitted cruiser, she is a fast yacht - faster for example on handicap than a Contessa 32

Sigma 292

The accommodation of the Sigma 292 consists of a vee/double forecabin, with additional locker space, and the saloon, which has a single settee berth to starboard, and another settee, with a small pilot berth outboard, to port. The chart table hinges down from the cabin side to starboard, over the settee, and aft of this is the very good galley, with a quarter berth tucked way behind it. To port aft is the separate heads, with basin, marine WC and a wet locker. The saloon table is folded away against the forward bulkhead in this picture

The saloon table folds and hinges to disappear into a box against the forward bulkhead, and when lowered reveals stowage for books and magazines etc.
