Around 150 Westerly Jousters were built from 1970 to 1975, the design being very much more performance orientated than most other small Westerlys built during this period. Although quite fast, they are easy boats to handle, and can be easily sailed single-handed if required.

The hull and deck are solid GRP laminates, with an inner GRP moulding bonded to the hull to form the cabin sole, berth bases, etc. Apart from tiller, handrails and the rubbing strake, there is very little external woodwork
