Designed by Ed Dubois, the Trapper T250 is a fixed fin keel version of the Trapper TS240 lift-keeler. The boat is a club racer or daysailer, or a fast weekend coastal cruiser, with accommodation for two to four. This example has had major upgrades in the last few years, including a very little used (and never immersed) four wheel road trailer, new sails and a new Tohatsu engine.

Trapper TS250

The Trapper 240 and 250 series boats were designed by Ed Dubois in the early 1980s, as production cruiser-racer derivations of a 26 foot racing design called Star Flash. The TS240 was the first to be put into production, and had a centreboard which lifted into a case in the saloon.

The TS250 is a later fixed fin keel version of the TS240, and the boat has the same hull and deck layout, but no internal keel box, making the interior more user-friendly. It remains small enough to trail, given a big tow vehicle, hence the TS trailer-sailer designation.

The TS250 is outboard-powered, with the engine fitting into a well in the cockpit sole. For racing, the engine can be lifted out and a blanking plug inserted.

The interior is very neatly fitted out with moulded headliners and storage bins, and there are four berths, with upholstery in very good condition. Saloon headroom is about 5' 5"

The lightweight 5 hp outboard is stowed in the starboard cockpit locker when not in use,
with a blanking plug used to fair the engine mounting hole in the cockpit when under sail.

Trapper TS250 for sale

This little Trapper has had considerable expenditure of the past few years, including a new trailer, upholstery, sails etc. She is for sale now as the owners, who have used this boat only for day-sailing, intend to buy a bigger boat for more extended cruising,

Photos ashore early February 2010, just after lift-out. The boat has always been craned on and off the trailer, which has thus never been in water.
