A modern family cruising yacht from Bavaria. Although the model is called the Bavaria 32, the yacht is actually almost 34 feet in length. This is a very, very lightly used example, with just 180 hours on the engine, an absolutely immaculate interior and also in lovely condition on deck. Although original from 2005, the Elvstrom sails have clearly seen little use. Standing rigging and the saildrive seal have recently been renewed.

Sailplan

Bavaria Yachtbau, in southern Germany, have been building yachts since 1973. Initially they built fairly expensive yachts, in small numbers, but since the mid 1990s have been concentrating on volume production of spacious family cruising boats, that have proved equally popular with private buyers and charter fleets.

In production from 2002 until 2005, the Bavaria 32 was the smallest of a series of yachts ranging from the 32 upwards designed by J & J Designs. Other sizes were the 34, 36, 38, 41, and 49, all featuring similar "woody" interiors finished in sapele mahogany. The earlier boats were finished in quite dark stained veneers, this being apparently the German taste, but later boats such as this yacht had lighter coloured interiors. These Bavarias were built in a very highly developed mass production 'assembly line' facility, that in the early 2000s was turning out nearly 3,000 boats a year.

The Bavaria 32 came with a wide range of options, including shallow iron or deep lead keels and in-mast or conventional battened mainsails. This yacht has the deep lead keel and a fully battened main. Despite Bavarias being relatively low cost boats when new, they are kitted out with high quality deck gear mostly from Lewmar and Rutgerson. All the Bavaria 32s were single aft cabin models.
