One of the classic production cruiser racers from the 1960s/70s, the She 31 still offers excellent performance and useful accommodation. This 1971 built example is only in her second ownership in 50 years, and is only for sale now due to the owner's advancing age. She has good sails and a Beta diesel replacing the original Albin petrol engine. She came ashore in October 2019 and as remained ashore since due to the Covid lockdowns. OWNER KEEN TO SELL.

The She 31 was designed by Sparkman & Stephens of Newport, Rhode Island, USA, one of the longest established yacht design firms in existence. Conceived as a cruiser-racer in the late 1960s, the original She 31 (plan at left) was built by South Hants Engineering (SHE) in the UK. The hulls are conventional GRP cosntruction, with a quite deep lead keel with most of the weight low. Most Shes were fitted with the company's unique "Shedeck", a thin layer of wood-effect resin over the GRP deck surface, with very grippy black "caulking lines".

This yachts is one of the rarer She 31 Travellers, a cruising version with slightly more headroom due to a few inches raised topsides, and a slightly longer coachroof with three ports on each side instead of the original two. The Traveller remains a classically elegant yacht, with quite long overhangs and tumblehome on the topsides. Many She 31 Travellers, including this yacht, have a coloured stripe below the gunwale indicating and helping to disguise the extra topside height.
