sailplan

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 34.2 was built from 1996 to 2002, with minor modifications year to year, the only significant change being a taller mast and slightly increased sail area from 2000 onwards.

Designed by Jacques Faroux, she has her maximum beam carried well aft, giving the option of an 'owners' version (as in the example for sale here) with one aft cabin with a very large berth and a large heads compartment, or a 'charter' version with twin aft cabins and a smaller heads. Two keel options were offered, the shoal draught bulbed fin having more ballast than the deeper keel to compensate for the shallower draught.

The model was superceded in 2002/3 by the Sun Odyssey 35

The accommodation of the single aft cabin version starts with a vee-berth forecabin, which has lockers and standing room aft of the berth itself. The saloon has a linear galley along the port side, with an oval seating area to starboard. The central padded stool can be moved outwards from under the table for additional seating if required, and the oval table drops to create another double berth. The chart table is to starboard, with a very good sized heads compartment opposite. Finally the aft cabin has another double berth, plus good locker space.
