All Ovnis are very strongly built, and are popular for extended cruising. With almost 12 ft beam, the interior is quite spacious and is fitted out beautifully in oak joinery. This yacht is for sale by the executors of the late owner.

Sailplan

Alubat has been building yachts in aluminium since 1974, with the first of their multi-chine centreboard designs in 1978. Since then all Ovnis have been similar in nature, built in welded aluminium, and normally sold and used with largely unpainted hull sides.

The hull is 5083H111 grade aluminium plate, internally and externally welded in an argon/helium atmosphere. The hull base and centreboard have lead ballast sealed in resin, the majority of this ballast being internal. The lightly ballasted centreboard is raised with a tackle from the cockpit, and the rudder is lifted hydraulically, with a mechanism that allows it to lift in case of an accidental grounding. As with all recent Ovnis, there is a large fixed stern gantry onto which solar panels, electronics etc., can be mounted.

The Ovni 345 model was designed by Michel Joubert of the Joubert & Nivelt design office, along with input from the Roseo yacht styling company. The Ovni 345 was built from around 1996 to 2006, at which point it was replaced with the very similar but slightly larger Ovni 365.

Yachtsnet photographs May 2021

This yacht is being sold by the executors of the late owner. He purchased her in early 2020 in France, and brought her into the UK that year. As there is proof of VAT (TVA) payment in France when new, and she entered the UK during the Brexit transition period, she now has UK VAT paid status.

Some work was done on the yacht shortly after arrival in the UK, including priming areas of the deck paint ready for top-coating. A new feathering prop was purchased, which has not yet been fitted, also a new mainsail, which is still at the sailmakers.

Ashore May 2021 - Ovni 345 for sale

This yacht has been ashore for some time in a club compound near Southampton, since the death of the owner. She is now being sold by the executors. Whilst the interior is in lovely condition, and the engine has been winterised for layup, she is externally in need of some routine maintenance, including completion of the repainting of the deck, preparation and re-antifouling of the bottom, and some minor repairs to the teak trim in the cockpit, along with normal recommissioning. A new feathering prop is in it's box, and a new mainsail is still at the sailmakers.
