A fast cruiser with enough speed to be a useful club racer, the Beneteau First 325 is an attractive yacht with good performance and handling. She has well finished cruising accommodation with a double aft cabin, a forward facing chart table, a good galley and a vee-double forecabin. This 1987 example has been comprehensively refitted in her present ownership, and is set up both for easy single-handing and family sailing. In full commission and ready to sail away, she is for sale now as the owner has just bought a substantially larger boat for extended cruising. Marina mooring until end March 2021 is paid for.

Sailplan

Designed by Jean Berret, the Beneteau First 325 was introduced in 1985 as a replacement for the First 32. Like all the "First" series yachts from Beneteau, she was marketed as a fast family cruiser with racing potential. The design was regarded as fast and well-mannered. One real difference between this era of racing-derived designs such as this and most modern production cruisers is that in a gust the boat heels more but remains in complete control without broaching.

The hull is single-skin GRP with a moulded inner liner, and the deck is balsa cored GRP. The First 325 was offered with deep or standard fin keels. This yacht is the deep keeled version.

The design remained in production until 1988/89, when it was replaced with the First 32s5 - the "S" designation referring to unusual Phillipe Starck designed interiors.

The Boat was rewired in 20313/14, and has been fitted with a total of six 110AH batteries, to support cruising use away from shorepower. The engine alternator is now a 70 amp one, and

The hull was professionally gelstripped and osmosis treated in 2013 shortly after purchase by the present owner. She was then Coppercoated. Various other works were also carried out in response to the owner's pre-purchase survey

Stern

This is a really "well sorted" example of these fast cruisers. With a deep keel and rudder, and not too broad a stern, the First 325 is a good handling boat, without the early tendency to broach of many wider sterned modern cruisers. Nevertheless she has good accommodation, and the aft double cabin has a berth 6' 6" by 5' 3". She really is quite an impressive combination of fastish sailing with comfort for the price.
