Sloop

The Dufour 39CC is a modern centre-cockpit cruising yacht with a good combination of performance and confort. Like the contemporary "Classic" models from Dufour, she has a very nicely finished interior with lots of varnished wood. She is well equipped with electronics, heating, anchor windlass etc. She has a fixed windscreen similar to those on Hallberg-Rassys, and a "camper" cockpit enclosure which zips on to the sprayhood to give more living space at anchor or moored.

Sailplan

The Dufour 39CC was designed for Dufour by Mortain and Mavrikios, along with Olivier Poncin, and built from around 1996 to 2000. There appear to have been minor differences betweens model sold to the US market and in Europe. Although the overall length is 39' 4", the length of the hull itself is 38' 0", according to a French Dufour brochure, from which the dimensions quoted here are taken.

The 39CC was available in two interior layouts - the only difference being a choice of a centerline double berth in the aft cabin, or a double off to one side with a single settee/berth opposite. Almost all boats sold appear to have had the latter layout, as is the case in this yacht, probably because this is a better option for use at sea.

The hull appears similar to, but not quite identical to, the Dufour 38 Classic, which is the aft cockpit yacht sold concurrently. This yacht is fitted with in-mast furling, again the usual choice for buyers of this model and the standard spec for this design. Two keels were offered, a 6'2 deep fin (as shown on the plan at left) and a 4'11" winged lead keel, as fitted to this yacht for sale.

Galley

The linear galley is in the walkthrough to port leading to the aft cabin, with good shelving/locker space both outboard and inboard above the engine. Side access to the engine is in this passageway.

Accommodation plan

Heads

The heads compartment is subdivided into heads and basin/shower areas, with doors leading from saloon to heads, a divinding door, and then another door to the aft cabin.

Heads basin/shower area

Opposite the basin is a wet locker for oilies, and behind this ( it hinges out) is a technical area for calorifier, batteries, and charger

Aft cabin

The aft cabin double berth has been fitted with a raised slatted base to improve comfort,
and reduce condensation. Opposite is a single berth/settee and a dressing table.

If you are looking at 38 to 40 ft centre-cockpit yachts, this is a relatively uncommon but very nicely put together alternative to other marques. Dufour's interior fitout is really rather good, and this yacht offers a very versatile and practical cruising yacht with a good standard of equipment.
