LWL	29' 3"	Rig	Sloop	The Contest 36S is a high quality 36-footer with semi-flush decks and a raised topside giving excellent accommodation including a good aft cabin. The design is clearly built for serious seagoing, with fin keel and skeg-hung rudder, and this is a very well looked after example with a good inventory, including having been re-engined with a Beta diesel 10 years ago.

Conyplex in the Netherlands started building cruising yachts in GRP in 1959, and became known for high build quality. The company is still building yachts, though now these range from 42 to 85 ft in length.

The Contest 36S was designed, along with many of the Contest range of yachts up to about the year 2000, by Dick Zaal, whose design office is still in business in the Netherlands.

The 36S has a near flush deck, with hull ports set into the raised upper section of the topsides, above a substantial rub rail for Baltic style box moorings, similarly to that fitted on Hallberg Rassys and Malos. They were built from 1984 to 1994, with about 90 built in total. They offered a choice of fin or wing keel and masthead or fractional sloop rig. Standing rigging replaced in summer 2016

There are a total of three solar panels giving 320 watts of power.
The two panels outboard of the guardwires are hinged and can be swung out
and locked in a horizontal aspect when anchored.

The cockpit winches are all by Enkes: the primaries being approximately equivalent to a Lewmar or Harken 46. Enkes code numbers do not correspond with other manufacturers.
