Sailplan

The Westerly Seahawk 34 was introduced in 1984, and in 1988 a 'sugar scoop' transom with bathing platform was added to create the Seahawk 35. In 1990 the design was modified slightly again to become the Oceandream, which then in turn became the Oceanquest, all on the same basic 34 foot hull and deck design. The same hull with a different deck moulding was also used on the aft-cockpit Falcon.

This yacht for sale is a Seahawk 35 with sugarscoop stern, and although originally fitted with in-mast reefing, the present owners put in a complete new mast to change her to setting a conventional battened mainsail with lazyjacks, in order to give better sailing performance. They also fitted four new self tailing winches, including more powerful than standard genoa winches.

The raised centre cockpit of the Seahawks give excellent headroom below, and the design also gives a really good double berth aft cabin with extra seating area. Later versions such as this 1988 Seahawk 35 also had much higher quality interior joinery than the quite plainly finished early versions.

The original mast with in-mast reefing, as was supplied with many Seahawks, was replaced by the present owners in 2020 with a new twin-spreader mast with a new Hyde slab reefing mainsail with control lines led aft. The four cockpit winches were also all replaced with new larger self-tailing models.

Westerly Seahawk 35 for sale

The Seahawk 35 is A spacious and comfortable family cruiser. With Westerly's solid build quality, she is substantially heavier than most newer 35 ft production designs, but this translates into more comfortable motion and better heavy weather handling. This is a good example with a lot of recent expensive upgrades. She is for sale now only as the present three-way partnership is breaking up.
