A modern small cruiser, the Dufour 30 Classic is the smallest of the 'Classic' range from Dufour. It offers a remarkably comfortable and modern interior in a 30 foot hull. Although she nominally has six berths, two to four is a much more practical number of crew. This yacht is the medium draught fin keel version with the open plan saloon/forepeak layout. This is a one-owner boat, and a mooring in Gosport could be available for rent for the year if required.

Sailplan

The Dufour Classic 30 was designed for Dufour by Olivier Poncin and J & J Designs in 1996, and was one of several 'Classic' models introduced that year. The 30 was the smallest of this range, and initially they were built, as with this yacht, with an open-plan saloon, with two raised berths forward of the main saloon settees and table. Later an option of a smaller seating area, with a forward bulkhead and enclosed forecabin was offered as an alternative layout, although the original open plan layout was almost probably the most practical. The boat continued in production until 2003

Three different keels were fitted, all iron bulbed fins, although not all keel options were made available at all times during the production run.

Reviewed by 'Yachting Monthly' in 2009, they commented: ".... Simplicity is the essence of this entry-level cruiser, launched in the late 1990s. She is quick under full canvas, easy to handle, close-winded and fairly well balanced" and ".... The cockpit is well laid out, with all the essentials within easy reach of the helm – a bonus for short-handed sailing. As befits a yacht of this size, she sports a tiller rather than a wheel. Down below, the open-plan layout makes for an airy, well-lit saloon with a vee-berth in the forepeak. There’s a large dinette, a decent galley, a generously proportioned chart table with ample stowage and a good-sized heads compartment aft of the companionway. The aft cabin is surprisingly roomy".

The forward bunks are open to the saloon, though some owners fit a curtain to separate them. The backrest of the saloon settees forward of the table hinges up to extend the forward berth length. Some Dufour 30s had the option of a full bulkhead with door to the forward berths, but this made the saloon feel very small - the position of this bulkhead can be seen by the channelling on the headlining.
