Sailplan

There have been a variety of Dehler 34 models since the early 1980s, with designations such as Dehler 34 To, Top Nova, Optima and then the 34 SV and 34 SQ. The Dehler 34 SV was introduced in 2007 and was designed by Alexander Simonis and Maarten Voogd of Enkhuizen in the Netherlands. The 2007 version was originally sold in two versions, a 34CR (cruising) and a deeper keeled 34RS (racing version). In 2008 these were retitled simply the 34 SV, which was then promptly renamed the 35 SV to aid marketing, and the boat was sold as a Dehler 35SV until 2013, at which time the single large wheel was replaced with smaller twin wheels and the boat became the 35SQ.

The Dehler 34/35 was offered with three keel depths, 1.62M, 1.95M or 2.15M, and a variety of optional equipment packages. This yacht has the 1.95M keel with a lead bulb on a iron fin. The keels of these Dehlers are set into "sockets" in the hull moulding, as well as being throughbolted with large backing plates. On deck the halliards and reefing lines are led under cover back to the cockpit winches, and the companionway washboards drop down into the companionway moulding rather than are loose as is more comon.

This yacht has a non-standard larger engine, teak instead of mahogany interior, upgraded genoa winches, a carbon gennaker pole and fittings, and removable storage/seating boxes in the aft of the cockpit. This Dehler was ordered as a Dehler 34 by the original buyer in Holland, but the company intended to show her at the Amsterdam Boat Show as the first Dehler 35, the 2008/9 change to the model designation being a marketing exercise with no obvious actual change to the design. In fact delivery was too late for the show, and this yacht is thus liveried as a 35 although ordered as a 34!
