The Seahawk was designed by Ed Dubois as a spacious family cruiser. They have very good accommodation, with a particularly good double aft cabin, and the solid build quality and generally high standard of interior joinery of the later big Westerlys. This 1987 example is one of the later built Seahawk 34s, and is in very nice condition. The saloon has light ash finish bulkheads and headlining, and the vinyl headlinings elsewhere are in very good condition. All windows and hatches were replaced in 2009, and the teak and holly flooring has also been recently replaced. The hull was epoxy treated in 1999, and Coppercoated, with the Coppercoat renewed in 2008.

Designed by Ed Dubois, the centre-cockpit Westerly Seahawk 34 was introduced in 1984, and in 1988 a 'sugar scoop' transom with bathing platform was added to create the Seahawk 35.

In 1990 the design was modified slightly again to become the Oceandream, which then in turn became the Oceanquest, all on the same basic 34 foot hull and deck design. The same hull with a different deck moulding was also used on the aft-cockpit Falcon. Of all the variants on the original Seahawk hull, the Seahawk 34 was the biggest seller, with 125 boats sold between 1984 and 1988.

Despite the fairly high profile of the coachroof, the Dubois-designed hull has a reputation for good sailing performance, and the interior space is excellent, the layout particularly popular for use by two couples, although there are a total of seven berths if the saloon is used for sleeping

This Seahawk was built with the light ash option for the bulkheads,
and similar veneer on the headlining panels in the saloon.

The aft cabin is excellent for in-harbour use, with a very good double berth, seating, and a vanity unit plus large hanging locker

These is easy engine access from the walkthrough to the aft cabin,
and in the aft cabin itself. You can also remove the companionways steps
to get to the front of the engine when necessary

The sprayhood seen on board here in September 2011 is the older "winter sprayhood",

with some minor holes. There is a much newer one used in summer.
