Rare in the UK, the Endeavour 35 is a moderate displacement cruising yacht with a nicely fitted out interior with (like many USA built boats) excellent headroom and good sized berths. The Endeavour 35s were clearly built to a very high standard - the quality of the joinery is excellent and details such as chainplates are very strong. This 1983 example was brought into the UK in 1998 just before the requirement for imported yachts to be RCD certified. On importation she was granted VAT-free status by HM Customs - we have a copy of the document. She is for sale now only because of the owner's health issues.

Endeavour Yachts was started in 1974, and built quite large numbers of yachts from 33 ft to 54 ft, for some years producing 200 boats a year. The company was sold on in the late 1980s, and went through several changes of ownership eventually switching to building power catamarans and now operating as Endeavour Catamarans - though they have also built a few of the older monohull designs as custom builds.

The Endeavour 35 was designed by Bruce Kelley, and is a very traditional looking cruising yacht. Slightly heavier and beamier than most European crusing yachts, she carries a big enough rig to be a moderately fast cruiser. The interior is fitted out in very traditional style, with lots of solid and good quality joinery. Like most American boats the interior is spacious, and has good headroom and berths a little larger than are typical in British boats.

She has a fin keel with rudder on a partial skeg. The hull is GRP with a closed cell polyvinyl foam core. The keel is moulded integrally with the hull and all lead ballast is contained inside. The deck and cockpit is also polyvinyl cored with plywood incorporated in areas for extra reinforcement. The hull-to-deck joint is a flange type, with adhesive and S/S bolts. There is a substantial teak capping rail round the deck.

An old Endeavour brochure for the design can be seen here - the bikini sailing attire is clearly from Florida.
