The Beneteau First 40.7 was designed for Beneteau
by Bruce Farr, and introduced in 1997/8.
Production continued until 2008 with only minor changes such
as interior trim and engine model. Two keel options were available,
at 1.9 or 2.4 metres draught.
Over 700 of these yachts are afloat, and they have won many
major events, including overall winner of the Sydney-Hobart
race in both IMS and IRC divisions. Despite this they also
make a good and very fast cruising yacht.
In around 2008 the First 40.7 was replaced in the Beneteau range by the First 40, another Bruce Farr design.
